We at Band Bucket bring you the freshest of band from across the globe, a minute before history gets rewritten. This time around we bring you the Newest kids on the pop-punk wagon named Nine Sons Of Dan from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Who released their debut EP on January 16 2012, which received heavy airplays on more than 140 radio stations including KOXY and KXSC and reaching the Top 30 Most Played charts at almost all of the stations. And currently is the 5th most played artist at radio in Australia. They were also featured on Alternative Press Magazine and numerous music blogs in the States. And have performed at The Big Day Out fest and also alongside Good Charlotte. The band has already finished the follow up EP titled ‘The New Kids’ which is set for worldwide release on June 29 2012. This includes the single ‘Diamond Skin’ mixed by J.R. McNealy (Paramore/Anberlin).

We are the Nine Sons Of Dan! My name is Flakey, and I play drums for the band! I also create our merchandise.

That’s an interesting name for a band, how did you come up with that?

Long story short, we started the band in university and there was a group of like nine of us that hung out, and nearby by was this bottle shop called "Dan Murphy's". So the name is pretty much an homage to our good friends and good times!

You have performed at The Big Day Out fest and also supported Good Charlotte. How was it like?

Big Day Out was as expected so awesome, just the whole experience was amazing. Basically a huge hot party fest just like festivals should be. The Good Charlotte support was something different, again super fun, a great crowd to play in front of and an honor to be sharing the stage with them.

The new EP 'The New Kids' will be releasing worldwide on June 29 2012, where can your fans buy it? Are you releasing any singles to build up the hype?

We are releasing our first single, Diamond Skin, to radio on April 16 and then on Itunes the next week. We are amped to show people a taste of what's to come so we're really looking forward to it!

The Debut EP Landslides was released in Australia in November 2010. And the follow up EP 'The New Kids’ in June 2012. Which is a long gap, so is there any difference in the musical influence? How much is the new EP different from the debut EP?

There is a bit of a difference in influence, but that EP was made so long ago and it really was rushed. We were really just getting started and although we're still really stoked with it, what we are about to show people is a much more honest and heartfelt contribution of what this band stands for.

Almost every band will deny making any comments or reveling any information about singles/Eps/Albums before it releases. But you being the cool crew, can you share some info about 'The New Kids'. Like the track list, writing, recording etc.

Um yes of course! This EP is a lot more hard hitting for starters. The EP is going to be made up of six tracks, and is being recorded at Loose Stones Studios, the same place we did our last EP. The sound on the EP is a lot less processed and natural than our last, and we think people are really going to enjoy it.

You have plans to tour the States on August, how is the preparation going.

Well it's all pretty insane, we leave for a near seven week non-stop tour in less than a month, and once we get back form that it's all about releasing the EP and preparing for the States. The EP will be released worldwide in June so from there we will be really finalizing everything for the States, but it's all looking pretty good from here! We have a lot of friends over there so we're looking forward to catching up! We may even have another overseas venture planned for later on in the year, but I have to remain pretty tight lipped about that one!

What can a fan expect who has never been your show before?

We try to involve elements of all kinds of bands with our live show, we have so many different influences within each of us and we hope people can see that when we perform. We honestly live to perform so it's a huge deal for us and if you come see us we hope you'll walk away with an awesome experience.

Apart from making awesome music what do you guys normally do?

Pidgey (our rhythm guitarist) is still finishing University, I just finished, and we all work here in the Gold Coast in our spare time! Three of us work for surf companies; we all surf and hang out as much as we can.

Anything else you'd like to add for the fans?

Just a MASSIVE thanks for the support so far. We are like living this dream we never thought would happen and it couldn't happen without the awesome people who listen to us and come watch us perform. We seriously can't wait to show our fans and the world this EP, we think it's the best thing we have done so far and we hope everyone will enjoy it as much as we enjoy playing it.
