Head Injuries are a Pop Punk/Punk Rock band from Fort Collins, Colorado. The band was formed by former members of Armed With Crayons, the band consists of Jared Russell (Rhythm Guitar/Vocals), Zack Hill (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Conner Hampton (Bass) and Jer Wood (Drums). We recently laid down couple of questions to Jer Wood (Drums) and this is what he came up with.

My name is Jer Wood, I play mystical Percussion

in Head Injuries.

When and how was the band formed?

Well, Armed With Crayons was going through some difficulties with some members and we weren’t playing the music we wanted to anymore. We were moving into a scene that we never wanted to get into. We wanted to play the music that is really important to us. So we went back to our roots and starting playing the music that we grew up loving.

Can you describe your sound to those who aren't familiar with Head Injuries?

Head Injuries is just a punk rock band, but of course we have some major pop-punk influence in there as well.

What's the reason behind the name change?

We grew out of the name Armed With Crayons, our new music has a whole new feel and aspect to it. We wanted something that would fit with the new music. Skating a local swimming pool really helped influence the name.

So how is Head Injuries different from Armed With Crayons?

It’s different in the sense that, were a punk rock band now. We wanted to play music where there is real value in each song. Something that we actually went through and experienced. We didn’t want people skipping to the 3rd verse to hear the breakdown. Our music was never about that.

What are you guys currently working on?

We are currently in the process of writing a full length album entitled “American Fatass”
We are predicting around 14 songs with a couple surprises… on a side note, all the songs on the full length are already written and being rehearsed.

What do you think of the current music scene?

What music scene?? If there is one id say…
BIEBER FEVER!!!

Biggest Achievement as a band so far?

I’d say the bands biggest achievement so far is we were very lucky and got the opportunity to record our three song 7” with Brandon Carilse the drummer to an amazing punk rock band Teenage Bottlerocket.

What does 2012 holds for Head Injuries?

2012 hopefully holds shows around the country and a release of our full length “American Fatass”
We also hope that all the fans that enjoyed AW/C over the last couple years will continue to support us in our music. You guys have been awesome to us this far. Keep it up, and most of all stay casual.
