I Call Fives recently released their self titled debut through Pure Noise Records and debuted on No. 13 in the Billboard Heatseekers chart.Hailing from Washington Township,NJ they have gained a huge amount of fans in a little time with their catchy and energetic tunes and have proved that they are one of  the most phenomenal pop punk band of 2012 with their new album.
BandBucket caught up with bassist Drew Conte to discuss about the album outcome, writing process, working with Paul Lewitt and more.

I'm Drew and I play the bass and occasionally sing in I Call Fives.

How are fans reacting to the new album so far?

So far it's been awesome, we've only gotten to play one show since releasing the album last week and that was the Warped Tour stop in Holmdel, NJ..but we had a blast. We're excited for the album to be out a little bit longer and to keep playing these songs and hopefully people continue to get into it.

For those who haven't heard the album yet, what can they expect from it?

It's an honest album. Lyrically it's the most honest I think we've ever been and we really spent time writing things that were relevant and meaningful to us. I think in the past we would just sort of try and write something that seemed cool and run with that, but this time we focused on actually getting our points across. The album really isn't about heartbreak or girls, it's about the past few years collectively for us.

The album was produced by Paul Lewitt who has worked with giants like All Time Low.How was it like working with him?

It was a pleasure. Paul has actually mastered almost all of our recordings so he was familiar with the band and it was cool actually getting to know the guy and work with him. He had some awesome ideas and really helped the album in a positive way.

What were your influences while writing the album?

Just life really. I really tried to reflect on the past and sort of get things off my chest and let it just be that. The rest of the band were on the same page and lyrically everyone's input seemed to mean a little bit more. Musically, we just sat down and tried to write songs better than what we've done in the past.

Pick up a song off the album and tell us the meaning and story behind it.

Regrets and Setbacks is just a song about reminding you to not give up. It was especially reflective on the last few years and just the general direction the band had taken, it's just a reminder that you should deal with the bullshit and pursue the things you enjoy doing.
With pretty constant member changes, financial problems, label changes, and whatever else..at times the future seemed sort of confusing and unsure. This song was sort of our effort of saying "hey, just deal with it" and keep moving forward.

What are your plans for the future?

We'll be on the Warped tour until August 5th and then do our own headlining dates in the US until August 26th. After that we're going to be heading back out in the fall with another US tour and hope to return to the UK later in the year and do some European dates as well.
Anything else you'd like to add for the readers?

Thanks a lot for reading this and you can check out the new album on iTunes or streaming on YouTube. Thanks!
