TRC (The Revolution Continues) has lived up to their name through their musical career. And today, the 23rd of October, they have released their latest EP, 'The Story So Far,' vie No Sleep Records.
The album has already gained media attention within and beyond the underground scene with songs like 'TEAMUK,' and 'Heartless.' Additionally the band's sound, energy, upfront lyrics and cocky/confident (however you define it) attitude has helped the steady growth of their fan base. TRC have established themselves as one of those bands that have caused a ripple in the music scene for being as original as one can be in this day and age.Songs such as 'Define Cocky,' and 'Go Hard or Go Home,' are popular, fan favourites and having put such powerful and confrontational music out there TRC had raised the barre for themselves. And bot did they live up to their standards with their latest release.
Chris Robson shares vocals with Anthony Carroll, whole Charlie Wilson and Ben Taylor Dingwall take on the guitar, backed by Oliver Reece on Bass and Lasselle Lewis on drums.
'The Story So Far,' is gritty and urban in sound with provoking lyrics. Each chant is a punch, and each riff is a melody. The drums are unrelenting and the stage, shared Robson and Caroll is set aflame because they perfectly compliment each other.
The first track on the EP is 'TEAMUK,' which definitely earned its well deserved credit. The song also led to the nomination of the band as Best UK Band in the 2012 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award. It is powerful and reminiscent with rich riffs and solos that round up all that is TRC. 'Heartless', that follows the opening track is a catchy song, that I would define as emotionally unemotional. Song’s like 'Bastard' and 'Cocky is Back' are filled with unrelenting rage that would get you up off your feet, chanting, ‘Do the revolution.’ 'Diamonds from The Smoke' and 'Sweatbox' are songs that ,stood out for me because beyond the words their music was compelling.
The closing track, 'London’s Greatest Lov Story' is the other sharp end of this fierce album, finishing the album off with the bang.
'The Story So Far,' is definitely a testimony of how far TRC has come and how far they are willing to push themselves to do what they do full-fledged, with no mercy.
TRC started off experimenting in the UK’s underground music scene back in 2005. But the band has kept gaining ground with their outspoken lyrics and attitude entwined with music that defines what is punk and hardcore.Converging metal crossover with the grime and hip-hop of the UK underground scene, TRC has emerged with a brand of their own and I would definitely recommend their new EP.
As they say, 'The Revolution Continues!
