Caravels/Gifts From Enola

Today, Topshelf Records and The Mylene Sheath release a 12” split, Well Worn, with Caravels and Gifts from Enola. The Caravels have three tracks on the album; Sagen Genesis, Beer Pressure and Bone Voyage. The first track starts off pretty slow, feeling almost like the calm before a storm. When the vocals kick in, the song picks up some pace, with a decent rhythm and beat to it. The vocals themselves meld nicely into the rest, and there’s an odd, roller-coaster like feeling of up and down sense to the song, giving it a nice chilled out feel, contrasting with the vocals, even more so when the song seems to hit its stride.
The second track, Beer Pressure, is slightly more heavy hitting. There’s a kind of slow energy to it, though every line hits hard. It’s easy to feel the emotion behind it, too, flowing out and almost wrapping itself around you. Bone Voyage feels like the perfect song to end on; starting, again, with a softer, chilled feel, it once more hits with the vocals. Overall, the Caravels side of Well Worn is strong, emitting a powerful energy to it and it almost feels like a shame when it ends, giving you the undeniable feeling of wanting more.
