Review: Enter Shikari - A Flash Flood of Colour

Written By Unknown on Thursday, January 19, 2012 | 7:05 AM

This year, on  the 16th of January, Enter Shikari released, ‘A Flash Flood of Colour’. It is their third LP since the band came together back in 2003 to create, what I consider, creative, resilient and enduring music.

Frankly, I believe that these guys have constantly proven their talent, and come out unbeatable at the end of every new move that they have made. The current album has been compiled with some brilliant build-ups and breakdowns and the music is off-the-hook and bold. With a post-hardcore base, it combines some of the best genres and sub-genres that have sprung up in the past 3 decades, from deviations of metal and  hardcore to  dub-step and drum and bass with elements of classical music synthesized into their sounds. And in the midst of this awesome concoction of music is seated brilliant lyrics that are hard to ignore and inevitably grow on you.

All the tracks of the album have an unrelenting way of coming to a climax to hit that raw, in-your-face high-note that defines Enter Shikari, whether the song is energy-driven like ‘Sssnakepit’, or  ’Arguing With Thermometers’ or a bit more subtle like,‘Constellations’.

The band is based in St. Albans, UK, producing music under their own record label, Ambush Reality. The lead vocals and electronics is covered by Rou Reynolds. Rory Clewlow takes on the guitar, while Chris Batten takes on the bass and Rob Rolfe caters to the drumming.

Enter Shikari has been prodding the UK charts since they released their 1st and 2nd  full albums , ‘Take to the Skies’ and ‘Common Dreads’ after a long string of EPs. And finally, their latest work has become a chart-topper, making it to the 1# spot a day after it came out.
